Our Scripture reading today is Jonah 2:8, "They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy."
Here is a warning from the rebellious prophet, Jonah. It did no good for Jonah to run from what God wanted him to do. He compares it to someone rejecting the mercy of God. We all need God's mercy. Jonah was yielded to what Jonah wanted and not what God had told him to do. As Jonah ran from God, he realized he was his god.
Who is in the driver's seat of your life? Are you allowing God to lead the way? Like Jonah, if you are in control of your life, it is just as if you are an idolater. God will do a much better job with your life than you will. There is no better decision than surrendering to His plan. He loves you!
