Our Scripture reading is Luke 23:39-41.
Verse 41, "And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss."
The two criminals who were crucified along side Jesus were on a cross because in some way they deserved it. They had both made choices to do certain things and this was the "reward" of their actions. What was happening to Jesus Christ was an injustice. He had done nothing worthy of being crucified.
Every person born of woman is represented by the two men on either side of our Saviour. They will either recognize their sinfulness and humbly turn to Jesus for salvation, or they will proudly die in their sin and spend eternity in the Lake of Fire. Only by the grace of God can we be forgiven and bound for our heavenly home!
