Our Scripture reading today is 1 Peter 5:8-9.
Verse 8, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"
The goal of our enemy is clearly defined in this verse of Scripture. Satan wants to destroy everyone he possibly can. He will even make us happy for a period of time if it will enable him to make the final death blow. While he is not omnipresent, he has plenty of fallen angels to assist in his devouring plan.
We must be on guard. We must be prepared for his attack by feeding on the Word of God every day. God's Word will keep us sober and vigilant. It is our spiritual sword and it will bring us victory every time we use it against the roaring of the devil. He cannot overcome the power of the Bible!
