Our Scripture reading today is Genesis 5:21-24.
Verse 24, "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him."
This would have been such an amazing event! As Enoch walks along with God, he is ushered into Heaven for all eternity. Personally, I take this to mean exactly what it says. Enoch was walking with God and all of the sudden, he is gone. In order for anyone to walk with God, there would need to be some form of reconciliation made. Amos 3:3, "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?"
Enoch's walk with God was established in such a way that we can have a walk with God as well. Faith is the key to our walk with God. In order for Enoch to walk with God, he had to have faith. Hebrews 11:5, "By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God."
If we are going to walk with God, it will be by faith. This is something that is unchanged by time. Hebrews 11:6, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." There is no better time than the present to walk with God by faith.
