Our Scripture reading today is Genesis 3:14-15.
Verse 15, "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
The daily battle that we face with Satan can be traced backed to the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. God's words are still true to this day. There is a mutual ill will between Satan and mankind. We have but one powerful enemy. All the other opponents of truth come out of Satan. 1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"
Daily victory is ours for the claiming! The second half of the verse tells us that the seed of woman (Jesus Christ) will deal a death blow to the serpent. We know from the New Testament that Jesus Christ fulfilled the prophecy of Genesis 3. The cross and the empty tomb provide us with all the power we need to have victory over our enemy. “This is the first gospel sermon that was ever delivered upon the surface of this earth. It was a memorable discourse indeed, with Jehovah himself for the preacher, and the whole human race and the prince of darkness for the audience.” (Spurgeon)
Rejoice in the LORD!
