Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 23:5-6.
Verse 6, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
Every time I read this verse, I want to look over my shoulder and see goodness and mercy. God promised His goodness and mercy to David and they are both available for us as well. “These twin guardian angels will always be with me at my back and my beck. Just as when great princes go abroad they must not go unattended, so it is with the believer.” (Spurgeon)
It really is amazing to think of the goodness of God being poured out on sinners like us. Elsewhere in Scripture, we read that His mercies keep us from being consumed. We deserve to be consumed due to our sinful behaviour. Take some time today to rejoice in the goodness and mercy of God!
