Our Scripture reading today is Job 23:8-11.
Verse 10, "But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold."
Job was going through a time of testing and proving. The word tried is translated from a Greek word that often refers to what metals go through to be proven and purified. The more our life is tested and proven, the more glory we can bring to the Lord Jesus. This would include, but not be limited to going through physical trials. Our Heavenly Father has a purpose and plan for the refining fires. Possibly you have referred to them as trying times. Maybe you are in the midst of a trying time right now.
The first thing I would challenge you to do is be thankful. This may sound strange, but we read in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." Whatever trial you might be enduring today, give God thanks for it. Secondly, I would challenge you to be hopeful. We read in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." No matter how difficult it may seem, keep looking to God. He is providing a way for you to handle the trying time.
