Our Scripture reading today is 1 Thessalonians 2:7-9.
Verse 8, "So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us."
"People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care." The people of Thessalonica were receiving both from the Apostle Paul and the church leaders. To be affectionately desirous means to long for; the longing of love. No doubt the Gospel was being preached, but it was also coming forth from hearts of compassion. As we mentioned on Sunday, it is important that we not only speak the truth; but that we speak the truth in love. (See Ephesians 4:15)
