Our Scripture reading today is Luke 16:27-28.
Verse 28, "For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment."
The rich man has his whereabouts enough to speak to Abraham about the spiritual condition of his 5 brothers. He must know that they are headed to the same place of torment. He asked for Lazarus to be sent to testify. Obviously this was not going to take place, but it does indicate the state of someone who is in the Lake of Fire for all eternity.
While we are alive, we have opportunities to testify to our lost family of what God has done in and through our lives. By the grace of God, we are saved and on our way to be in the presence of God for all eternity. This is the moment God has given us to testify. Once we leave this world, it will be too late to be concerned for our lost family members. I would encourage us all to pray today for those we know are lost. Pray for their hearts to be opened to the truth of the Gospel. We must also pray for an opportunity to plant or water previous Gospel seed. God is not willing that our family perish. God is ready to save them all today!
