Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 14:23, "And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone."
The Lord Jesus leaves us an example of spending time alone in prayer. If the sinless, Son of God needed time alone with the Father, how much more do we, as sinners, need this time? He teaches us that we cannot ignore prayer time for the sake of doing more. Eventually, our spiritual fuel will run out.
No question, there is something special about spending time with God. Prayer is our time to listen and speak to God. We enter into His presence in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ. The blood of Jesus Christ gives us access to the Father. His death, burial, and resurrection have torn the veil in two so that we might enter the holy of holies. Have a time for prayer every day.
