Our Scripture reading today is Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

The fruit mentioned in these two verses are given to us as part of our salvation "package".  When we received God's gift of salvation by faith, we were given His Spirit which meant we were give the fruit mentioned in these two verses.  These fruit were meant to help us conquer the works of the flesh.  They are given to every believer and will be seen in our lives as we yield to the Spirit on a daily basis.   “It may be significant that the word fruit is singular; Paul is not speaking of a series of fruits that would be shared around, so that one believer has one, another another. Rather he is referring to a cluster, such that all the qualities are to be manifested in each believer.” (Morris)
