Our Scripture reading today is Philippians 2:19-22.
Verse 21, "For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's."
Whose will are we seeking to accomplish? As a follower of Jesus Christ, I am no longer my own. 1 Corinthians 6:19, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" The hymn writer was correct..."Now I belong to Jesus. Jesus belongs to me." God saves with a purpose in mind. God has a plan for our lives. Unfortunately, far too many Christians are completely ignoring the will of God. They are seeking their own plan without even consulting with their Heavenly Father.
The Lord Jesus preached in Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Our priority following salvation is to find the will of God and yield to it. Just in case you were wondering, God is not hiding. Matthew 7:7-8, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." Are you seeking your own will or the will of God for your life? God's will always ends with the best results for His glory.
