Our Scripture reading today is Luke 16:19-21.
Verse 19, " There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:"
There is quite the contrast in these verses of Scripture. One man is eating the finest of foods and another is eating crumbs that fall from the table. One man is wearing the best robes money can buy and one is more than likely wearing tattered and torn clothes. They are at completely opposite ends of the financial spectrum.
Regardless of how much money or how little money people have, they all have the same spiritual need. Money cannot buy peace and happiness. Money cannot buy eternal life in Heaven. All rich people do not go to Hell and all poor people do not go to Heaven. The need is the same for the poor and the rich. John 3:36, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."
