Good Lord's Day Morning,

Our Scripture reading today.is Colossians 1:14, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:"

Mankind's salvation cannot be earned by his or her good works.  God's Word makes it very clear how we are redeemed and how our sins are forgiven.  The price of our redemption was the precious blood of Jesus Christ.  Hebrews 9:22, "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."

Why would we try and add something to the perfect payment that has already been made?  It must be the pride of man that will not allow him to receive by faith what God has already provided.  Mankind must humble himself in order to apply the redemption and forgiveness of the Lamb of God.  James 4:6, "But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble."
