Our Scripture reading today is Deuteronomy 7:6-8.
Verse 8, "But because the LORD loved you,"
Man's words cannot accurately describe the love the LORD has for us. It is a love that never decreases and is not conditional on the one being loved. God just doesn't love you and me. I John 4:8 says, "God IS love." This means that God is fundamentally and essentially LOVE. The love of God can be seen at the cross. Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." The love that God has for us is how we love Him. God initiated love because He is love. If you are having a difficult time loving, I would submit you need to draw closer to God. He will always be the source of unending love.
