Our Scripture reading today is Luke 12:35-37.

Verse 37, "Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them."

Our lives are promised to be blessed when we live them expecting the return of the Lord Jesus.  He promised in John 14 that He would come again.  “Those servants who are alert to their master’s return will be blessed. So blessed are they, in fact, that the lord will reverse the roles and serve them by girding up his loins and seating them at the table and serving them.” (Pate)

The more I watch for the return of the Lord, the more I will be challenged to live according to the Word of God.  By watching, it does not mean we are sitting around doing nothing while we look up into the sky.  Watching involves an attitude of expectancy.  If we are expecting someone to come for a visit, we are watching.  While we are watching, we are preparing and planning for the arrival of our guests.  The King of Kings and Lord of Lords is coming again!  It is imperative that His children are watching.
