Our Scripture reading today is Philippians 2:5-8.
Verse 7, "But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:"
The Son of God laid aside His position in Heaven to become a mere man. He did not cease being God, but He willingly became a bondservant. The Lord Jesus had everything yet He was humble to the point of taking on a robe of flesh in order that He might become the sacrifice for our sins. He is the greatest example of a servant!
We are blessed to be not only a child of the King, but also a servant of the King. It is a privilege to be called upon to serve Him. There is no one else who is as worthy of our service. One way we can serve the Lord is by serving others around us. It is our tendency to want to be served. May we each determine by God's grace to live a disciplined life that is looking for ways to serve others. The world needs to see the love of God and this is one way to show them.
Remember the example of the greatest servant of all!
