Our Scripture reading today is Ephesians 6:13-18.
Verse 17, "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:"
Just as we dress for the day, taking the sword of the Spirit is also a daily requirement for spiritual battle. Keep in mind as a Christian, we are in a battle whether we wanted to be or not. This battle does not involve weapons of physical warfare. The spiritual equipment we need is mentioned in our reading today. These verses should be marked in our Bibles and in our hearts.
In and of ourselves, we are no match for our enemy. Satan would and does easily defeat those who try and go to battle alone. We are more than conquerors when we go to battle equipped with our armour, sword and prayer. How much do you know about your sword? The sword is God's Word. How much time have you read about how to use this sword in battle? Preparation is always the key to a successful victory. Joshua 1:8, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
Don't neglect time with your sword of the Spirit!
