Our Scripture reading today is John 6:35-38.
Verse 38, "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me."
The Son of God left the glories of Heaven to walk amongst sinful men and completely submitted to the will of God the Father. In Luke 22:42, Jesus said, "Not my will, but thine, be done." Jesus Christ sets the perfect example for his to follow - Submit to God's will! Laying aside my will and picking up His will is almost a daily decision. The flesh definitely has a will for us everyday and it will be contrary to God's will. (See Galatians 5:17) When the Apostle Paul spoke of dying daily this is quite possibly what he was referring to. He wanted to die to his will and be alive to the will of God.
It just so happens to be Sunday. It is the will of God that His children be in church today. While we cannot all assemble at the same time, we can all be a part of the services today at 10 am and 3 pm. My love for God will create in me a love for the family of God. This love for the family of God is manifest in a desire to assemble together in whatever way possible. Is Sunday truly the LORD'S Day in your home?
