Our Scripture reading today is Luke 3:10-14.
Verse 11, "He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise."
Our text this morning continues with the preaching of John the Baptist. The challenges he gave were fairly elementary in nature, but are to be followed in our lives today. "Integrity in the ordinary things is still a mark of true repentance. We sometimes think God requires us to do great or impossible things to demonstrate repentance. Often, He instead looks for integrity in the ordinary things." We learn from verse 11 a principle we taught our children at an early age. It is always good to share. God has blessed us with everything we have, and we ought to be willing to give of what we have to others. James 1:17, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
