Our Scripture reading today is Joshua 24:15, "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

Joshua set the tone for what he was going to do as well as how he was going to lead his family.  Thousands of years later, we should learn from and be guided by these same words.  Each one of us ought to say with Joshua, "As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

The salvation we have been given could in no way be earned.  We can, however, show our love and appreciation to God by surrendering our lives to Him.  God is worthy and it is only reasonable for us to do this.  Romans 12:1, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
