Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 6:19-21.
Verse 20, "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal."
The Lord Jesus is preaching the Sermon on the Mount. It takes up chapters five through seven in Matthew. Treasure is only valuable if it lasts and is protected. The more treasure we can send to Heaven the better. This treasure will yield eternal value. This treasure will bring more glory to our God. I believe sending treasure ahead to Heaven will also bring us joy now. "Our material treasures will not pass from this life to the next; but the good that has been done for the kingdom of God through the use of our treasures lasts for eternity, and the work God does in us through faithful giving will last for eternity."
