Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 62:1, 5, "Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him."
The picture the Psalmist is giving us is of an individual who has such great trust and confidence in the Lord that he is willing to wait for His clear leading on a particular matter. In other words, he does not go ahead of God. He prays and seeks the Lord's will when making a decision and patiently waits for the next step.
It is easy to be impatient and want to just go go go. I think what we need to realize is that it is possible to wait and advance at the same time. While we are waiting on the specific will of God to be made known in our lives we should be actively advancing in the revealed will of God. For instance, it is God's will for every Christian to share the Gospel. This is clearly the case as we read God's Word. It is not God's will for every Christian to go to Indonesia as a missionary, but it is God's will for SOME to go to Indonesia. We are to share the Gospel and it may or may not be in Indonesia.
We must submit ourselves to the revealed will of God and wait on Him for His specific will.
