Our Scripture reading today is Romans 13:12, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light."

The admonition we receive from the Apostle Paul is something that we need to do every day that God gives us.  Time is moving so quickly and it is important that we redeem it and bring God the glory He deserves.  It is impossible to bring God glory when we are putting on the works of darkness and not wearing the armour of light.  As I mentioned recently, the flesh is there to meet us every morning.  There must be a conscious decision in our lives to die to our desires and will every day.  Once that decision is made, we must choose to put on the armour God has provided us to have victory.  Putting on Christ is a strong and vivid metaphor. It means more than put on the character of the Lord Jesus Christ, signifying rather Let Jesus Christ Himself be the armor that you wear.” (Morris)
