Our Scripture reading today is 1 Samuel 7:3, "And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines."
The message that Samuel preached to Israel is one that we need to adhere to today. Remember, truth never changes. I believe this to be true because God never changes. Malachi 3:6, "For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed." The truth contained in Samuel's message will, if applied, bring the same kind of deliverance in our lives.
If we are truly following the LORD, there will be a change in how we live our lives. The way it was known if the people in Samuel's day had truly returned to the LORD was when they "put away the strange gods". What strange gods need to put away from our lives? We cannot serve God and __________ at the same time.
