Our Scripture reading today is 1 Samuel 17:38-39.

Verse 39, "And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him."

The teenage shepherd boy, David, was not used to wearing the armour of an adult man and especially the armour of King Saul.  His normal "battle" gear was pretty simple - a sling and stones.  This was what God had given David to protect himself as well as his father's sheep.

God has given each of His children exactly what they need to protect themselves and those whom they influence.  Ephesians 6:13, "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."  There is nothing greater that we can find to fight the Goliaths in our lives.  Put on the armour every day!
