Our Scripture reading today is Exodus 2:3, "And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink."
A command had been given by Pharaoh to kill all the Hebrew male babies. We are reading specifically about the birth of Moses. He would be mightily used of God to lead the Hebrew people our of Egyptian bondage. But first, God would use Moses mother to protect Moses as well as leave us with a godly example of parenting. She did everything she could to protect her son from Pharaoh and the dangers of the river.
What are we doing as parents to protect our children from the world and its influences? It is sad in some cases that parents are actually putting their children right in the path of the world. They are allowing ungodly influences into the lives of their children. This takes place on the TV, a laptop computer, and mobile devices. It is time we designed an "ark of bulrushes" for our homes. Our children need to be protected from the wiles of the devil. Our children need to be trained as to what is right and wrong and why it is right and wrong. A loving parent will do all they can to protect their son or daughter as they float through life.
