Our Scripture reading today is Luke 12:16-19.
Verse 19, "And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry."
The parable of the rich fool is one that can be seen time and time again.  I was just speaking to someone yesterday about the comfortable way of living in North America.  While this does not apply to everyone, I would say the highest percentage of poverty is outside of North America.  This can lead to someone thinking they have everything they need in their earthly possessions.  While there is nothing wrong with having earthly possessions, they can make it very difficult for an unsaved individual to humble themselves and admit they need Jesus Christ.  Matthew 19:24, "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."
We, as Christians, need to be on guard lest we fall into the "take it easy" trap.  While our eternal destiny is secured in Jesus Christ, our enemy is still seeking to kill and destroy.  Satan is seeking to destroy our influence for the cause of Christ.  There are many who have fallen and for whatever reason will not get up.  Their influence has been silenced.  Only by God's grace can we continue to work until Jesus comes.  He will enable us to remain faithful until death or the second coming of Jesus.
