Our Scripture reading today is Luke 2:22-24.
Verse 22, "And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;"
Joseph and Mary made sure they followed all of the law of Moses concerning the days of her purification. In addition, they followed the law concerning Jesus as well. While it was not "necessary" for Him to be circumcised (He was not born in sin.), it was necessary for Him to identify with mankind. He would later do this again at His baptism and on the cross.
What might we have in our lives that needs to be presented to the Lord? First and foremost, our lives should be presented to Him. Romans 12:1, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." The life we have is not ours to live how we want. It is a gift from God that should be presented to Him daily. The best decision we can make is to present our clay (life) to Him and watch Him mould it for His glory.
