Our Scripture reading today is James 1:13-15.
Verse 14, "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed."
It is clear from this passage of the Bible that God does not lead us into temptation which is the pathway to sin.  Temptation in and of itself is not sin, but Satan uses our own desires (lusts) against us to lead us into temptation which can result in sin.  Your flesh and mine only desire what pleases self.  Paul wrote in Romans 7:18, "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not."
Each and every day that God gives us, we must die to our sinful desires and seek to overcome any temptation the Devil will sends.  Our daily walk with the Lord is imperative to being ready for the wiles of the Devil.  God's Spirit gives us the power to say, NO!  Mark 14:38, "Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak."  Victory over temptation starts before the temptation ever comes!
