Our Scripture reading today is John 14:1-3.
Verse 2, "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."
Jesus speaks with complete confidence about a real place. There were plenty of reasons for the disciples to be calm, but one was overwhelmingly the best reason. They were going to be reunited with the Lord Jesus in the Father's house. A welcome is being prepared for all those who are followers of Jesus Christ and He is the One preparing for our arrival. Love prepares a welcome. "God so loved the world."
As we examine this verse a little closer we see a descriptive word about the mansions. The word, many, tells us there is room for all in Heaven. Jesus could see what the disciples never could — millions upon millions, even billions from every tribe, language, nation in His Father’s house. The place being prepared for the family of God is much greater than any dwelling place we could have on this earth. We, too, need to heed the words of Jesus Christ, "Let not your heart be troubled..."
