Our Scripture reading today is Acts 16:33-34.
Verse 34, "And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house."
This passage of Scripture is one of my favourites. The mighty power of the Gospel is seen immediately in the life the jailor. One day he is overseeing the prison house which is housing two preachers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The jailor witnesses a miracle in that these prisoners do not leave when their prison bars open up. Keep in mind, they were guilty of helping people know the truth.
The next place we see Paul and Silas and the unnamed jailor is the jailor's house. They went from the prison house to the jailor's house. In between these two places, the jailor and his family are gloriously saved by the power of the Gospel and then baptized. No wonder they are rejoicing in verse 34. No wonder they are eating and praising God.
We who are saved have every reason to rejoice on this Monday! Our Creator God has redeemed us and is preparing a place on Heaven for us. What a mighty God we serve!
