Our Scripture reading today is Luke 2:19, "But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart."
The reaction of Mary is one for us to seek to emulate. The Bible says she "pondered" on everything she had heard and observed. This speaks volumes for Mary's calmness in such an emotional time. Another word we might use for ponder is meditate. "Mary had good reason to meditate. What brought her to Bethlehem? A Roman emperor’s great decree and perhaps gossiping tongues in Nazareth. God works through all kinds of people and all kinds of events to accomplish His plan."
May each of us take a few moments to ponder the working of our Mighty God in our lives. He is moulding and making us after His perfect will. It is in our best interest that we allow the Potter to shape us (the clay) into a vessel that brings Him honour and glory. It may not have been what Mary would have planned, but it was exactly what God had in mind from before the foundation of the world. Your current situation may feel uncomfortable at the moment. Take time to ponder on the goodness of your Heavenly Father. He always does what is right!
