Today’s Scripture reading is John 8:28-30.
Verse 29, "And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him."
As followers of the Lord Jesus, we have not been "left alone" either. From the moment of our salvation, God's Spirit has been in us. He enable us to accomplish what the Lord Jesus accomplished when He was robed in flesh. We CAN do right! We CAN obey the Father by being obedient to His Word. Our pleasing of the Father is possible when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 5:18) This filling takes places when we seek it as well as when we say no to self. We can also be sure of not pleasing God when we are in control. Romans 8:8, "So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God."
The following is a portion of a chorus that should be our testimony:
I just want to please the Lord
Be in his will in every way
To be lost in his presence,
Found in his likeness
Hear Him say well done
Some day
