Our Scripture reading today is Luke 6:39-40.

Verse 40, "The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master."

A disciple was someone who learned everything from his master or teacher.  A disciple would never become greater than his master but it was his goal to become like him.  If he were trained properly this would become a reality and not just a goal.

Who are we allowing to be our teachers?  It is very true that we will become like those whom we follow.  I was speaking to someone recently about the environment around us.  By environment, I was referring to who and what has influence over us.  There is so much going on around us that would love to teach us the way of the world.  We must allow God's Word and where God's Word is emphasized to be a great influence in our lives.

Romans 8:29, "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."
