Our Scripture reading today is Luke 9:51-53.

Verse 51, "And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,"

As Jesus Christ begins His journey to Jerusalem, there are a couple truths in this verse of Scripture that stand out to me.

First, I was reminded of God's perfect timing.  He is seldom early, never late and always on time.  Jesus knew it was time to make His journey toward Jerusalem.  There were specific tasks that were yet to be completed.  This included the most important task of Calvary.  Romans 5:6, "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly."  We can be confident in God's timing in every area of our lives.  He not only knows what we need, but He also knows when we need it.

Secondly, I was challenged by the determination of our sacrificial Saviour.  Even though He knew what was coming, He would not be detoured from His Father's will.  Isaiah 50:7, "For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed."  Our courageous Christ was focused on finishing the task set before Him.  The cause of Christ is always in need of believers who live a Father focused life.  This means we must be constantly seeking what the Father's will is and then steadfastly setting our life to accomplish His will.  This is when true fulfillment comes!
