Our Scripture reading today is Acts 17:5-7.
Verse 7, "Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus."
The context of this verse is referring to an actual King (ruler) by the name of Caesar. He was the most powerful man in this day and leader of Rome.
As Christians, we are to put God first in our lives. (Matthew 6:33) His Word is to be honoured and obeyed. (John 14:15, "If ye love me, keep my commandments.") How easy it is to allow other kings to have control over what we do or say. Peer pressure from family and friends can lead us to violate what God's Word says we should be or should not be doing. It takes a daily decision that we will be filled with God's Spirit. His Spirit will lead us to follow the decrees of the Father.
Have a blessed Lord's Day! See you in church.
