Our Scripture reading today is Acts 20:25-31.
Verse 28, "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood."
The Apostle Paul is writing to the church at Ephesus and is specifically challenging the leaders. These leaders were reminded to make sure they were spiritually fit so they could provide the guidance needed to the church family. Our enemy is always seeking to destroy and one of his primary targets is the church. He was attacking then and he is still attacking now.
Our theme this year is Strong in Faith. We are asking the Lord to raise up more disciples within the Anchor Baptist Church that are strong in faith. One way our faith is strengthened is time spent in the Word of God. Set aside time every day to read and meditate on God's Word. Another way to build our faith is going through difficult times. It is in these times that our faith is stretched and then, as we trust in the Lord, it is strengthened. Our strong faith is needed as we seek to help other new Christians as they begin their own faith journey.
