Our Scripture reading today is 1 Corinthians 1:10-13.
Verse 10, "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."
I believe we can conclude that competition and church politics did not begin in the twentieth century. It really saddens me when I hear of a pastor not wanting to fellowship with another pastor over the pettiest of reasons. This is not God's plan nor does it accomplish anything for His glory. John 13:35, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
Our enemy would like nothing more than to see church members at odds with one other or churches in the same community not willing to work together for the glory of God. In no way, am I promoting "holding hands" with a church that isn't preaching and teaching the same Biblical doctrine. Anchor Baptist Church is an independent Baptist Church that seeks to stand for and on the truth of God's Word. We should recognize that while truth does divide us from the world; it can unite us as an army of soldiers ready for the battle.
