Our Scripture reading today is Luke 5:22-24.
Verse 22, "But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?"
Jesus knew exactly what was going through the minds of the people that were around Him. This would have included the religious leaders of His day. They were very skeptical of His words and works and could guard their countenance and keep their thoughts from most people.
God is still and always will be able to know what is going through our minds. His Word can discern our thoughts and intentions. Hebrews 4:12, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Our thoughts must be surrendered to God every day. Proverbs 16:3, "Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established." We must not allow the Devil to play around in our mind. Guard it with the Word of God.
