Our Scripture reading today is Romans 5:3-5.
Verse 5, "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."
At the very moment that we accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour, we were given the Holy Spirit to live in us. He will stay with us until the day we die or the rapture of all believers takes place. The Apostle Paul explains that the Holy Spirit pours the love of God into our heart. We know we are loved by God because the Spirit of God is conveying that to us.
“The love of God is like light to a blind eye until the Holy Ghost opens that eye... may the Holy Spirit now be here in each one of us, to shed abroad the love of God in our hearts.” (Spurgeon)
