Our Scripture reading today is Luke 16:29-31.
Verse 31, "And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead."
The powerful impact of the Word of God cannot be underestimated. There is no other resource that can do what the Bible can do in bringing a lost, hell-bound sinner to faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Just yesterday I saw a video clip of a famous news person who started reading the Bible in February. He mentioned he has read the entire New Testament and has read through Deuteronomy in the Old Testament. I am not sure if he is a born again believer or not, but I know if he continues reading God's Word, the Spirit of God will persuade him by the Word of God.
We are saved by grace through faith. Our faith comes through the Word of God. Romans 10:17, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." The more we point people to the Scriptures, the more their faith will grow. The word of man has no power. God's Word has all power! It is still changing hard hearts. It is still setting the captives free. Thank you, God, for Your Word!!
