Our Scripture reading today is Luke 22:52-53.
Verse 53, "When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness."
The last statement Jesus made in this verse could be brought right into our day today. We are living in a day when the power of darkness can almost be felt. Satan and his demons are causing havoc all over the world. He is not aware of when he will be defeated, but I believe he knows he is a defeated foe. The powers of darkness were increasing at this time in the life of Jesus because He was just about to go to the cross. This could have been an attempt to keep Him from the cross. Satan knew and he knows today what the cross means.
I am truly thankful that we have the ability given to us by the Holy Spirit to shine forth light in a dark day. Darkness can be all around us, but we have the LIGHT in us that can never be extinguished. Let's pray daily for opportunities to let our light shine before men and bring hope to so many who have no hope. Let it shine till Jesus comes!!
