Today’s Scripture reading is Luke 9:22-24.
Verse 23, "...let him deny himself,"
The moment we accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour, we were sealed with the Holy Spirit of God and give everlasting life. Salvation is a present possession. While these statements are true, we still have self to overcome every day. We are challenged to take up our cross "daily". The order of verse 23 cannot be overlooked. Unless we deny ourselves, we will not be able or willing to take up our cross. The meaning of denying oneself is to disown oneself. As a follower of the Lord Jesus, our lives are to be controlled by Him. We have traded in our ownership for stewardship.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
Start off everyday by asking for God's will to be done in your life and then strive to follow Him.
