Our Scripture reading today is Romans 8:26-28.
Verse 28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
This one verse has been a beacon of light to many followers of Jesus Christ when they endured the darkest of days. A promise is found in this verse that can be claimed by those who love God. Whatever it is that is swirling around you today, God can work it together for good. It does not say that it is good. It says that God can take all things and work them together for good.
The last two words of Romans 8:28 have been a help to me over the years..."his purpose." I want to see His purpose fulfilled in my life. I want to see His will accomplished each and every day of my life. Saying I want His will is one thing, but actually following through on it, is another. We must remember that His purpose will involve some refining. God will work our refining together for our good and His glory. His purpose and plan are where we need to be!
