Our Scripture reading today is Colossians 1:16-18.
Verse 18, "And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence."
Does Jesus Christ have the preeminence in every area of our life? While the question may or may not be a difficult one to answer, I know making Him preeminent can be difficult. The meaning of preeminence is to have first place. So, let's ask it this way, "Does Jesus Christ have first place in every area of your life?" Someone has said there are only two choices on the shelf...serving God or serving self. Since we are making the final decision as to who has first place in our lives, this statement is pretty accurate.
Today is obviously the first day of the week. It is the Lord's Day...Sunday. Does Jesus Christ have first place today? Are the services of Anchor Baptist Church a priority? What would it take for us to miss those services? I am not asking for your answer to these questions. However, the answers will determine if Jesus Christ is preeminent in one area of our lives today. How important is His church in our lives?
Hebrews 10:25, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."
