Today's Scripture reading is 1 Corinthians 16:5-9.

Verse 7, "For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit."

The Apostle Paul is someone we read about in more than one book of the Bible that he was sensitive to the leading of the Lord.  God willing, we will be preaching from Acts 16 tomorrow and this very subject is clearly mentioned.  Paul sought to follow God's will in every matter.  In this case, it was whether or not he was to see these Christians in Corinth now or at another time.  It seems so simple, but with God everything has His perfect timing.  I read recently that we should not have such a detailed schedule for the day that there is no room for God to interfere.

Each and every day that God lets us live, He has a path laid out for us.  He has people we need to influence.  He has specific places we need to go so we can influence the people He is working on.  Whatever the Lord permits in our lives today is best.  James writes in chapter four and verse five, "For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that."

It is wise to yield to the Lord's this or that for our lives today!
