Our Scripture reading today is Judges 6:14-16.
Verse 16, "And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man."
Gideon was given a wonderful promise that God would go with him and give him the victory over their enemy. The presence and power of God made the difference for Gideon as well as for each of us today.
It was clear that Gideon felt insignificant in light of the power of the Midianite army. He said in verse 15 he was too poor and too young. I'm sure we have had the same thoughts come through our mind from time to time. The enemy would love to convince us that we have no chance of overcoming a sin, seeing a loved one get saved or serving God as a missionary in some foreign land. This is simply a lie and an attempt to discourage and distract. We can do all that God has for us to do. As we yield to God's Spirit, we can overcome sin, doubt and the fear of man.
As we move forward by faith, remember God is always ahead of us and with us at the same time.
