Our Scripture reading today is Daniel 10:1-3.
Verse 2: "In those days, I Daniel was mourning three full weeks."
There is some indication that Daniel was mourning due to his sins and the sins of his people. The indifference of the Jews in that they were able to return to their own land, but instead stayed in the land of their captivity. This season of mourning and fasting preceded an amazing revelation of prophecy. The prophet Daniel had no idea what was coming, but his humility opened up the opportunity.
As we come to the conclusion of our 30 day prayer and fasting journey, I wonder what God is preparing us for? Is there still something in our lives that needs to be confessed? We have an impossible need, but God specializes in the impossible. It is my prayer that we as a church will be less and less dependent on self and more and more dependent on our Heavenly Father. He is still giving grace to the humble!
