Our Scripture reading today is 2 Timothy 1:8-9.
Verse 9, "Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,"
The creator God of the universe called us to Himself. We did not go searching for Him. He, by His purpose and grace, came searching for you and me. Even though we had nothing to offer God, He wanted and loved us as we were and are. The sacrificial death of Jesus Christ made it possible for us to be cleansed from all our sin. We became worthy when Jesus shed blood was applied to our account.
Once we answer His call, we can claim the promise of Romans 8:28. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." His purpose always causes the circumstances of our life to work together for our good and His glory.
